Social responsibility

The notion of corporate social responsibility was probably not uppermost in the mind of Henry Stanley Newman when, in 1873, he saw the benefits of providing the orphans in his care with a printing press. In these early days Orphans Press didn't need to look beyond its own front door for worthy candidates to support. A century and more later we like to maintain avenues to help those less fortunate than ourselves. In recent years we forged a strong involvement with an orphanage in Kenya, (www.restartafrica.c.ouk) including time as a UK Trustee. We look back fondly at fundraising activities, not least the two summer 30+ mile walks along Offa's Dyke which were supported by so many friends and customers. Both walks raised around £5,000 which we know has helped with facilities and educational resources for the children. Since then we have donated web development time and training for the Friends of Connakry Refugee School in Guinea. (

Closer to home, Orphans is part of the fabric of Leominster so we are pleased to support the museum as well as Leominster Festival, sponsoring its annual writing competion.

Leominster's marquee- fit for a prince

Memories of Diamond Day, July 11th 2012

When Leominster was invited to showcase it's wares to the Royal Family there was only one thing to do ... call for Helen! And so it came to pass that a willing group of volunteers gave of their all to ensure Prince Philip left with an abiding impression.
